NSS results show Northeastern University London outperformed sector by 13% in 2020
NSS results show Northeastern University London outperformed Russell Group by 8% in 2020 with an overall student satisfaction score of over 95%
Northeastern University London, London (NCH), has outperformed the higher education sector by 13 percentage points in the National Student Survey, in results published by the Office for Students. The university-level college reported 95% overall student satisfaction against an average in England of 82% for 2020.
Students also rate Northeastern University London better than Russell Group universities. Northeastern University London achieved student satisfaction scores higher than every member of the prestigious Russell Group in seven of nine categories, and in 17 out of 27 questions.
Better than Russell Group universities
The University exceeded all members of the elite Russell Group in the following seven out of nine categories, (shown as the Northeastern University London score, the nearest Russell Group institution and their score).
- Teaching NCH 92.22% (Glasgow 87.25%)
- Learning Opportunities NCH 87.41% (York 83.3%)
- Assessment & Feedback NCH 92.22% (Durham 72.74%)
- Academic Support NCH 93.22% (York 80.8%)
- Organisation and Management NCH 83.7% (LSE 82.3%)
- Student Voice NCH 89.63% (Liverpool 77.25%)
- Overall Student Satisfaction NCH 95.56% (Durham 87.3%)
Northeastern University London scored 4.95% higher, on average, than the nearest Russell Group institution’s score. These results demonstrate that by offering exceptional higher education in the humanities and social sciences through personalised learning and the provision of smaller teaching groups, including regular one-to-one tutorials, combined with a broader liberal arts-inspired curriculum, the University produces students who are more satisfied than those at top UK universities.
Best in London for teaching
Northeastern University London scored first in London for quality of teaching in English and Law and topped the London list for the teaching of Art History, Economics, History, Philosophy and Politics & IR.
When compared to the Russell Group on teaching, Northeastern University London scored better than every Russell Group institution in teaching of English and Law and topped the list for teaching in Art History, Economics, History, Philosophy and Politics & IR.
Northeastern University London graduates typically progress to postgraduate study at institutions including the Universities of Cambridge, Chicago, Edinburgh, Oxford, the London School of Economics & Political Sciences (LSE) and University College London (UCL). Those who choose to start their careers achieve graduate roles at the likes of Accenture, the Civil Service Fast Stream, Clifford Chance, Deloitte, INTO University, KPMG, PwC and TeachFirst.
