Political Philosophy (NCHPH733)

20 Credits

Political Philosophy investigates authority, liberty, democracy, justice, the market: themes which are of enormous interest to us not just as citizens but as philosophers too. These themes are addressed in classic works from Plato and Aristotle through to the present day.

In this course, students investigate those five themes deeply, in the company of some of the giants of the modern period in philosophy – Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Mill and Marx – as well as some outstanding contemporary authors.
