Travel and Parking Policy

Scope

  1. The local area is well connected to public transport links, including bus, tube, overland train, and ferry. Members of Northeastern University London (the University) are encouraged to walk or cycle, where possible.

No Onsite Parking

  1. St Katharine Docks has no onsite parking (including disabled) available for any cars, vans, motorcycles or any other motor/electric vehicle type.
  2. The only exception to this is any vehicles for delivery or collection purposes, which may gain access to the loading bay yard situated off St. Katharine’s Way.

Drop-Off Only

  1. Car access to Devon House is via St Katherine’s Way, beyond the black loading bay gate you will see the entrance to Devon House.

Bike Parking Space

  1. Devon House has over a 100 bike parking spaces available to the east side of the building, accessible via the rear gate. This bike parking is secure behind a locked gate and is only accessible with a security pass. All visitors who require bike storage should liaise with the University for the provision prior to attendance.
  2. The bike storage is provided by the Landlord and is available to all tenants of the building, and forms part of the Landlord’s Common Areas and Local Residents’ Demises.
  3. A Cycle to Work scheme is in place for University staff. Details of the scheme are available from Human Resources or the PeopleHR platform.

Santander Cycles

  1. Santander cycles are in place across most of Tower Hamlets which are available to the public. For more information about Santander cycles including hire costs and locations please see this webpage by TFL (Transport for London).

Public Transport

  1. Tower Hamlets is well connected with its tube, bus and train links across the borough to the City and the West End. It is also served by the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) – the only fully accessible railway in the UK – and is home to City Airport.
  2. For more information on the tubes, trains, DLR buses, river boat, including timetables, journey planners, service disruptions, ticketing and more please visit the Transport for London website.

Congestion Charge / ULEZ

  1. Devon House is located just on the edge of the Congestion charge zone and the Ultra-low emission zone (ULEZ). The University is not liable for any charges incurred as a result of any members of the University or any person who has business with the University, travelling to and from our campus at Devon House.

Electric Vehicle Charging Points

  1. The University does not operate or own any electric vehicle charging points at St Katharine Docks. However, Tower Hamlets have committed to install 182 electric car charging points across the borough. You can find more information here.
  2. For a list of charging points in the local areas please consult provider maps. Such as ESB.
