We are delighted to announce that we will be hosting our Graduation Ceremony on Friday the 20th of September at The Queen Elizabeth Hall. Please see the information below to help you plan your day.

Schedule

Graduating students and their guests will need to arrive at the Queen Elizabeth Hall entrance at 10.30am, and follow the signposts to the gowning and photography in the foyer. Morning refreshments will also be available in the foyer for all students and guests. Information on how to get to The Queen Elizabeth Hall can be found in the ‘Getting to The Southbank Centre’ section below.

Your guests will need to take their seats in The Queen Elizabeth Hall at 12:40, for the ceremony to commence at 13:00. The ceremony will last approximately 1.5 hours and will be followed by a drinks and canapé reception in the foyer. Further information, such as the order of awards, will be shared with graduating students and their guests on the day.

Academic Gowns and Caps

Academic gowns and caps are now open to be hired from Ede & Ravenscroft. Gown hire for the day will be free of charge. You will need to pay a fee if you wish to hire the gown for longer or purchase the gown to keep.

You will need your student ID and surname to login. Please note that your student ID is not the number in your email address.

The deadline for academic dress hire is August 23rd, 2024.

On the day of the ceremony, gowns will need to be returned by 16:00. There will be a gown drop off point at the reception.

Tickets

Entry to the ceremony requires a ticket for both graduating students and their guests. Tickets for graduating students and their guests are free of charge. These can be secured via the Ede & Ravenscroft website when you complete your gown hire. Each student is allotted up to 4 guest tickets but more may be made available after the registration closing date.

The deadline to register and claim guest tickets is August 23rd, 2024.

To request additional tickets, please email graduation@nulondon.ac.uk. Additional tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis however it is not guaranteed that additional tickets will be made available.

Seating in The Queen Elizabeth Hall is not assigned for guests unless they have access requirements. Please see the ‘Accessibility and Further Information’ section below. 

Seating for students however will be assigned as per their course. 

Photography

Photography of individual graduates and their guests will be provided by Ede & Ravenscroft. You can purchase photography online at the same time as your tickets and gown on the Ede & Ravenscroft website. Photography can also be purchased on the day of the ceremony, however we recommend purchasing it ahead of time to avoid delays and to guarantee a photograph. These photographs are shipped to your home address after the ceremony. 

All graduates are requested to stay back after the ceremony for a group photo.

At the reception in the foyer, there will be a roaming photographer taking instant print photos, this service is free of charge.

Student Speaker

This year we are giving Graduands the chance to nominate themselves to speak or nominate a member of their cohort. Please complete this form, contact graduation@nulondon.ac.uk if you have any questions.

Getting to The Southbank Centre

For further information on getting to The Southbank Centre, please see The Southbank Centre website. Gowning, photography will take place in the foyer – this is where you will need to head to when you arrive. There will be Student Ambassadors in place to guide you and your guests. The Ceremony will take place in The Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Drinks reception will take place in the foyer. A free cloakroom will be available for use in the foyer.

Eligibility

You will be eligible to graduate if you meet the following requirements:

  • You have achieved enough credit
  • You have no outstanding tuition fees
  • You have no pending admission documents

This ceremony is for Undergraduate, Apprenticeship and Multiverse students who have met the eligibility criteria above.

No, you must have no outstanding tuition fees.

If you are unable to graduate at this year’s ceremony, you will be invited to attend the ceremony the following year, provided you are eligible to graduate by that time.

Registration & Tickets

No, registration is all done though the Ede & Ravenscroft registration link. Once you have claimed your tickets and submitted your gown requirements, you will be registered.

You can secure up to 4 guest tickets  through the Ede & Ravenscroft website. Once you enter the institution name ‘Northeastern University London’, you will need to enter your student ID (note this is different from the number in your student email), your surname and student email. Please email graduation@nulondon.ac.uk if you do not know your student ID.

After the registration deadline has passed (August 23rd), the University will allocate any remaining tickets on a first come first serve basis. If you would like to request spare tickets, you will need to email graduation@nulondon.ac.uk.

No, children under 3 do not need a ticket as long as they don’t occupy a separate seat in the theatre. They will also need to be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Gowning and Attire

You can hire your gown through the Ede & Ravenscroft website. At this stage you can also secure your guest tickets. Once you enter the institution name ‘Northeastern University London’, you will need to enter your student ID (note: this is different from the number in your student email), your surname and student email. You will need to enter your height, head measurement and any other requirements in order to hire the correctly sized gown and hat.

You will receive the gown at the graduation venue when you arrive on the day only if you hired it through the website before the deadline. Student Ambassadors will be able to guide you to the correct area. Ede & Ravenscroft staff will be present to assist all graduates in gowning. If you have not hired your gown online, there is no guarantee that you will receive a gown on the day of the ceremony.

Ceremonies are smart occasions and we are sure you will want to look your best for your photographs. Please note that from the elbow down, your arm will be visible against the gown and you may therefore wish to wear a jacket. Although magnets are used, it is a good idea to wear something with a buttoned front as it will help the hood to sit better. 

Guests are requested to dress formally.

Photography

You can purchase photography at the same time as your tickets and gown on the Ede & Ravenscroft website. Photography can also be purchased on the day of the ceremony, however we recommend purchasing it ahead of time as it cannot be guaranteed on the day.

All photos will be shipped to the address provided by the student. There will also be photos taken during the ceremony as graduates walk the stage and other photo opportunities at the reception. These will be shared after the ceremony.

Individual photos can be purchased through the Ede & Ravenscroft website when you hire your gown and secure your guest tickets.

Event Schedule

Yes, all guests and graduates will receive a graduation booklet once they arrive, which will list the names and degrees of all graduating students, a schedule for the day and details on the alumni network.

We highly recommend that everyone gives themselves plenty of time to arrive before 11:00, giving yourselves extra time to account for any travel delays etc. If you do arrive late, if you arrive before 12:00 we will try our best to gown you and have you join the ceremony.

If guests arrive late, they will be held at the door by a staff member and allowed in at a point when it is least disturbing for the audience.

Ceremony

No, guests will be seated row by row as they enter the concert hall for the ceremony.

No, graduates will be seated based on their courses in an alphabetical order.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place from 13:00 – 14:30.

Unless there is an emergency, we would appreciate graduates and guests to remain in their seats for the entirety of the ceremony

Yes, children are welcome to attend the ceremony. In the instance a child becomes distressed/restless, we do ask that parents/carers step outside of the concert hall to settle them.

This reception will start at 14:30 and will be held in the foyer. Canapes and drinks will be served.

Accessibility Information

The Graduation ceremony will be taking place at The Queen Elizabeth Hall, which is wheelchair accessible.

The reception and gowning will be taking place in the foyer, which is also accessible to wheelchair users.

Yes, a multi-faith prayer room is located on Level 1, Blue Side, Royal Festival Hall, offering a quiet retreat for prayer and meditation.
