The Crusades and the Expansion of Europe, c. 1000- c. 1200

This course will investigate the history of the crusades, topics covered will include the background and origins of this process of expansionism, the changing attitude to religious violence and the motivation of crusaders. The course will also look at the kingdoms founded by crusaders and their interaction and conflict with native populations.
