Everything you need to know about finding your place through Clearing.
What is Clearing?
- Clearing is your chance to find a degree and university after the UCAS deadline.
- It’s ideal if you haven’t yet applied for university, you’ve changed your mind about your degree or university, or you didn’t get the grades you were expecting.
When does Clearing open?
- UCAS Clearing opens for students who have their exam results on Thursday 2nd July 2026.
- The busiest day for Clearing applications is when A-level results are released on Thursday 13th August 2026.
What is Clearing Plus?
- Clearing Plus is offered by UCAS matches applicants with Clearing courses on their behalf.
- You can view your matches in UCAS Hub.
- If you indicate an interest in one of our degree programmes through Clearing Plus, we’ll contact you.
When is results day?
- Thursday 13th August 2026 for UK A-level and BTEC results
- Monday 6th July for IB (International Baccalaureate) results
How many Clearing applications can I make?
- There’s no limit to how many universities you can apply to, but you can only accept one Clearing offer on UCAS Hub.
How long will it take to receive a decision?
- If you have all your details to hand, we can make most decisions on the spot.
What information do I need for the Clearing call?
- Have a good idea of the subject you would like to study.
- Have your grades and personal details to hand.
- Find out your UCAS ID number from your application in UCAS Hub.
Can international students apply though Clearing?
- Yes, please apply in the usual way. Then select us as your Clearing choice in UCAS Hub from 1pm on results day.
I’m currently holding a UCAS offer at another institution. Can I apply to Northeastern University London via Clearing?
- Yes, but you’ll you need to decline your existing offer on UCAS Hub. Call us and we’ll let you know whether we can make you an offer.
Does Clearing effect my student loan?
- If you’ve already applied for a student loan but you changed your degree programme or university, contact the relevant authority and update your details.
- If you haven’t applied yet, do so straight after accepting your Clearing offer.
- Visit Student Finance England, SAAS, Student Finance Wales or Student Finance Northern Ireland (NI).
