Biography
Alexander James is a PhD researcher and graduate teaching assistant in Politics & International Relations at Northeastern University London, with an academic background in Intellectual History and the History of Political Thought.
Qualifications
MA (Distinction) in History of Political Thought and Intellectual History, Queen Mary University of London & University College London (2024)
BSc Hons (First) in Politics & International Relations with Philosophy, Northeastern University London (2022)
Research
Alexander’s research lies at the intersection between the history of philosophy and the history of political thought. He is especially interested in the philosophy of history; dialogues between democratic and Anthropocene theory; and environmental political and philosophical thought. His current PhD work seeks to mobilise American pragmatism and its various worldwide afterlives in response to contemporary political problematics, with a particular focus on how such mobilisations might assist timely reimaginings of hope in democracy amidst the climate crisis.
