Biography

Dr. Fatemeh Parsa is an Assistant Professor of algorithms in the Faculty of Computing, Mathematics, Engineering & Natural Sciences (CoMENS) at Northeastern University in London. Before joining Northeastern University, she was a Lecturer in the School of Mathematical Sciences at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and holds the position of LMS Grace Chisholm Young Fellow.


Dr. Parsa completed her PhD in Mathematics at QMUL’s School of Mathematical Sciences, is a member of the London Mathematical Society (LMS) and holds a Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Research

Her research interests encompass Functional Analysis, with a particular focus on Operator Theory, Hilbert Spaces, and Jordan Triples, as well as Fuzzy Thinking, emphasising Fuzzy Logic, Algorithms, and their applications in Artificial Intelligence and Education. Dr. Parsa has supervised several MSc dissertations in Data Science and Financial Mathematics.

Teaching

At the University, Dr. Parsa leads and teaches the Discrete Structures course and has developed and taught undergraduate courses in Probability and Statistics. She is currently leading and teaching postgraduate courses such as Fundamentals of Computation, Data & Algorithms, and Machine Learning. Additionally, she serves as the course leader for the MSc AI Dissertations and Fundamentals of Computer Science II. During her tenure at QMUL, she has also organised and taught courses, including Numerical Computing with C and C++, Introduction to Probability, and Statistics for Insurance.
