Biography
Dr Sara Abdaless is an Associate Professor in Accounting and Finance and Deputy Academic Director (Students) for the Centre for Apprenticeships at Northeastern University London. She is also the Programme Lead for the BSc (Hons) Applied Accounting and Finance (Accounting Finance Manager Degree Apprenticeship). With over twelve years of experience in UK higher education, Sara has held senior academic leadership roles at London South Bank University, including Associate Dean Education and Student Experience and Head of Division for Accounting, Finance and Economics. In these roles, she led large programme portfolios, degree apprenticeships and professionally accredited courses, driving initiatives that enhanced teaching quality, academic standards and student success.
Dr Abdaless works closely with Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies such as CIMA, IFA and ACCA, contributing to curriculum development, accreditation and sector engagement. She is a multi-award-winning academic recognised for innovation in accounting education and student experience and is a recipient of a prestigious British Academy Small Grant.
She holds a PhD in Accounting from Henley Business School (University of Reading) and a PGCAPHE from King’s College London. Sara’s teaching focuses on management accounting, corporate finance and governance, underpinned by research into sustainability and governance in the not-for-profit sector.
