The AI Futures Challenge is offered by Northeastern University London, based at Devon House 58 St Katharine’s Way, London, E1W 1LP

The Challenge is open to students who are currently in their penultimate year of secondary education (the equivalent of Year 12 in England). The university may, at their discretion, accept applications from students in Year 11 in the UK (or the equivalent).

Project entries should address the set challenge released on the online learning platform 9am GMT Monday 16th February 2026.

Entrants must register here to participate in the competition. We cannot accept submissions if the student has not first registered.

Projects must be submitted in one of the following formats. Portfolio of work A document (up to 5 pages maximum).Video or recorded presentation A video (up to 8 minutes maximum).Presentation with notes A slide deck (up to 5 slides maximum) accompanied by written notes (1 page maximum).6. Projects should be submitted via the appropriate assignment (team or individual) on the online learning platform.

Essays should be submitted via the online form provided in the registration confirmation email.

When registering for the challenge and submitting your project please use the same name and email address throughout and title your file(s): [Firstname_Lastname]

When submitting your project , you must state the name and email address that you used when registering for the challenge , using a different name or email may result in disqualification.

Projects must be submitted in one of the following formats: Portfolio: .pdf, .doc, or .docx. Video: .mp4 or link to uploaded video (YouTube, Vimeo). Presentation: .ppt, .pptx, or .pdf

The submission must be the sole creation and original work of the entrant (or team if working collaboratively). All submissions must be original to this challenge and must not have been submitted to this or any other competition previously.

Any form of plagiarism will result in automatic disqualification.

Entrants are expected and encouraged to use AI tools as part of their creative and research process. However, the final submission must represent the entrant’s own thinking, analysis, and design decisions.

Teams of up to 3 people are permitted. Each team member must: (a) be registered for the challenge (b) submit a copy of the same project individually via the “Group project submission” assignment (c) be clearly identified within the submission. Team submissions must represent collaborative work with contributions from all members. Each team member should be able to describe their contribution to the project if asked. If the above is not followed, the team submission may be disqualified.

Shortlisted entries will be approved to warrant that the entrant is eligible for the challenge.

No person may submit more than one project for each annual challenge.

The award winners grant the University the right to publish or reproduce at any time all or part of the winning projects.

The prizes on offer are stated here. The award of all or any of the prizes lies solely within the discretion of the judges. The judges’ decision will be final.

The scholarship is subject to the entrant making a successful application to study an undergraduate degree at Northeastern University London, accepting their offer, and enrolling at the university. Year 12 students (or equivalent) must enrol in September 2027. Year 11 students (or equivalent) must enrol in September 2028. The scholarship is only redeemable against first-year tuition fees.

The deadline for the receipt of entries is 2pm GMT Friday 20th February 2026. Please note that late entries cannot be accepted under any circumstances.

Entrants who unsubscribe from the University’s emails will not receive email communications about their performance in the challenge. We do not provide feedback on unsuccessful entries.

Winners are entitled to refer to the achievement on their CV and university application personal statement.

It is anticipated that the results will be announced in April 2026.

The decision of the Director of Undergraduate Student Recruitment and the Interim Director of Marketing on interpretation of these Rules will be final.
