Northeastern University London (the University) has a responsibility to its students and to external bodies, including United Kingdom Visas & Immigration (UKVI), to ensure that students are attending contact points and engaging in their studies, to comply with the relevant regulatory requirements, and the University’s requirements.
International Students on a Student Visa are expected to attend all scheduled classes and study points as required by the University. Students must be fully academically engaged in order to successfully complete their programme of study. The University monitors the engagement of all enrolled students. The University considers a student academically engaging if they are actively and consistently following their programme of study.
The Visa Team monitors student academic engagement regularly and identifies any students who have not reached 70% academic engagement of study contacts points in two consecutive weeks without approval or have a demonstrable pattern of non-academic engagement causing concern. Students falling in any of those categories will be regarded as having unsatisfactory engagement.

Leave of Absence
A student who wishes to request a leave of absence in exceptional circumstances must complete a Leave of Absence Authorisation form (3-20 days absence) or a Long Leave of Absence Form (20-60 days) and submit relevant evidence.
You must submit the relevant documentation well in advance of your absence.
If you require authorised leave for longer than 60 days, you will need to speak to a member of the Visa Team (email@example.com) as this will have major implications for your Student Visa. You must speak to the Visa Team before you leave the UK.
