Tuition fee loans for home undergraduate degree students
Home students starting their first undergraduate degree may be eligible to apply for a tuition fee loan. To determine if you are entitled to a tuition fee loan, and how to apply, please visit gov.uk/student-finance. There are funding agencies in the U.K. for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, to which you should apply depending on your residency.

Maintenance loans for home students
Students who are resident and settled in England may be eligible for a maintenance loan from the Student Loans Company. The amount of loan you receive will vary according to your household income. You can use your loan to pay for accommodation and living costs such as transportation and food.

Bursaries for home students
The Northeastern University London Bursary provides funding of between £2,500 and £5,000 per year to undergraduate degree students with household incomes under £63,500, dependent upon their circumstances.
Means-tested bursaries
The Northeastern University London Bursary is a means-tested award for undergraduate students with home fee status and household incomes under £63,500.
- students with household incomes below £31,250 receive £3,750 annually.
- students with household incomes between £31,251 and £63,500 receive £2,500 annually.
Additional bursary funding
Additional funding is available to students in certain circumstances.
- students who can evidence that they are permanently estranged from their parents, or have been young carers, care-experienced students, or refugees receive an extra £1,250.
- Students with childcare responsibilities for under-18’s receive an additional £500.
The Northeastern University London Bursary is disbursed in two equal installments that are paid in the first week of the autumn and spring semesters. The bursary can be applied as a reduction in tuition fees, housing costs, or paid as a bank transfer in GBP.
