Scientist (Biological Scientist)

Courses

Year 1

In the first year, learners will gain a solid foundation in core business principles, fundamental biological concepts, and the legal and regulatory frameworks that shape the life sciences sector. They will also develop essential skills in interpreting and communicating scientific data. 

The courses covered in the first year are: 

  • Business Fundamentals
  • Molecules and Cells
  • The Regulatory Environment
  • Physiology, Pharmacology and Drug Development or Plant Physiology and Agri-Tech
  • Scientific Data Analysis and Communication 

Year 2

In the second year, students deepen their scientific knowledge and develop practical skills in managing projects and analysing complex datasets. This will prepare them for tackling real-world challenges in life sciences research and innovation. 

The courses covered in the second year are: 

  • Scientific Project Management
  • Infection and Allergy (Including Microbiology)
  • Cell and Gene Therapy
  • Data Analytics
  • Industrialisation Manufacturing and Health Economics 
  • Laboratory based Residential
  • Data Driven Experimental Design Project

Year 3

In the final year, learners explore contemporary issues in bioscience, ethics, and change management while sharpening their critical thinking and leadership skills. This stage culminates in the Capstone Project, where students demonstrate their ability to lead and deliver a substantial piece of independent scientific work.

  • Biological Science Capstone Project
  • Biological Scientist End-Point Assessment
