About Kaajal Modi

Kaajal Modi (she/they) is a multidisciplinary designer, artist and creative researcher with extensive experience working through accesible modes to engage communities around the UK into important conversations about culture, sustainability and climate. Their co-creation practice incorporates communication design, illustration, sound, video and interaction methodologies to create lively and situated encounters between people, organisms and ecosystems.

Kaajal has recently submitted their practice-based PhD at the Digital Cultures Research Centre (DCRC) at UWE, Bristol, co-supervised through the Science Communication Unit, and funded through an AHRC studentship with the 3D3 Doctoral Training Partnership.

Prior to this they worked as a communication designer for over 14 years in politics, culture, education and third sector organisations. They draw from their experience in collaborative design, communication design, science communication, interaction design and community engagement in order to build emergent methodologies that are inclusive, exploratory and playful.
